Yesterday was the deadline for online voter registration in IL.

We had family over for the night. That's when I found out 2 of my family members, as well as their 2 friends, wanted to vote for Trump. But I was surprised to hear they had never voted before & didn't know if they were registered.

They are older immigrants & Reagan fans who came here from the Soviet Bloc back in the late 70s & are now citizens. But because they are computer-challenged & their English isn't so great when it comes to more technical, legal language, they didn't know how to find out their status online or how to register properly. They heard about the election fraud issues & wanted to avoid it so as not to give Democrats any oportunities.

So I gladly helped all of them register. They will be going to vote in person to make sure their vote counts, too.

That's 4 more Pro-Trump votes & straight-R tickets in Cook County, IL (Chicagoland), folks!

MAGA!

Edit: Holy smokes, did not expect this to blow up! I'm on the Hot front page right now. Thank you for all the love & thank you for making memes of my dreams, pedes!!! 💋🐸❤️🤍💙

AstronoMink [S] 27 points ago +27 / -0

If Chicago goes Red... I think I might just lose my mind & skinny-dip in Lake Michigan this December, because that is just completely unheard of & something out of a conservative's wildest dreams...

But I feel a certain sort of HIGH ENERGY in the air that wasn't there before...

While I moved to FL for school 3 years ago, and will be doing my job down there in keeping it red, I was born & raised in Chicagoland and my entire big fat immigrant family & most of my extended family lives in Chicagoland. Vast majority of them are Trump-supporters, and most of those who aren't don't care enough/are too disappointed to vote for Dems. Irony is that the immigrant part of my family is more red than the multi-gen American, extended part! Bucking the immigrant trend, we are, lol.

I might have have hope for IL yet!

YES.

Fuck it: How about we do it the weekend before election day?

From what I've hear from people who work downtown, it's a ghost town, so it's not like there's anyone around to counter protest & stir a bunch of shit up on the streets! Might as well stick it to Prickster & Plightfoot!

Just flipped my old roommate, he said he can't vote for Biden now, I told him that trying to claim that the Russians infiltrated a PC repair shop in Delaware sounded like a Q-anon conspiracy and the FBI apparently didn't even call Hunter to see if the laptop was his...no I am gonna go ahead and keep believing that a rich drug addict forgot about his laptop. He couldn't argue.

Seeing him next week, hope to have him leaving with a Trump flag out his window.

PS. In 2016 he voted Trump cause we were roommates

While my family lives in Chicagoland, I live in FL (just back home with family temporarily in between school/career moves & to help out family with health issues). I am flying in back to FL just to be there in person at the polls.

Since my older family members are taken care of, I've been thinking about taking some ppl to the polls while I'm down in FL, but I don't know how to get started or get the word out. I'm by Ft. Meyers, and there's a lot of older people there who could use help getting out. Maybe there are some ppl on TD who know somebody that could use help?

Go & do the good deeds, pede!

You had one job.

More eligible citizens don't vote than do in any given year. The largest voting block is non-voters.

Edit:

It's actually 55% of the eligible population that votes. Still, 45% non voters is bigger than either party by a big margin.

A lot of people are unsure of all the legal mumbo jumbo involved in anything to do with government.

The wording on govt websites isn't exactly straight forward, so people get confused or are just unsure. Because they don't understand completely, they are afraid to do something that might turn the govt against them or harass their ass in some way.

The DMV also doesn't give the friendliest of impressions, especially in big blue cities. (Here in Cook County, IL they are total assholes. Not bery helpful at all, either.)

And in places like IL, they certainly don't do anything to help make it any less confusing or accessible. Compare how nice & readable the FL voter registration look-up results on their website is & to the IL one. And the FL county-level elections website even provides sample ballots that look exactly like what you will see election day. IL can't even get their shit together enough to provide one less than a month to election day. They just provide a giant list of all candidates for every position across the whole state & county and all the referenda. They don't even bother to organize it by individual voter precincts so you're not confused and looking at candidates that don't apply to you. And then you have to hunt for maps & figure out what districts, townships, state & federal districts, & all these other different divisions you're part of because they don't properly label or include all of them with the voter lookup. It was so impractically organized & time-wasting for a physics PhD student to sort through, let alone someone who has an average or less than average education level. Search results tend to bring up these basic bitch govt websites first. And while there are websites that kind of lookup & organizing for people, they're not exactly reliable, & some even intentionally misdirect.

So the maze you have to go through to find reliable resources causes a lot of people to give up & let it go.

Remember, not all state or county govts are actually friendly toward their people informing themselves.

Deciding not to vote is just as acceptable a choice as deciding to vote--especially when you consider how dumb people are.

To anyone who thinks that voting for GEOTUS (and his/her Republican congressional candidates) when he or she lives in a deep blue district/state, consider how fun it would be to take the stupid “muh popular vote” talking point off the left/media’s plate. VOTE ANYWAY

Lol, I don't think it's the first time somebody's done that, if I remember correctly. Might even be the same guy who did it back in 2016/2017.

But yeah, I went through an area of the loop that I haven't been in for a long time a while back & the scene there was so much different than 2016! Actual pro-America signage, & even the occasional, outright, brave Trump support!

I saw a minivan with little flags & Trump 2020/HidenBiden stickers in a parking lot. So I left them a happy little note on their windshield. :)

Voter registration deadlines in Illinois Online registration deadline: Sunday, October 18, 2020 In person registration deadline: Tuesday, November 3, 2020

Good job pede. Now lets get rid of mobster Madigone and Pritzker

6

You mean Prickster? Kek.

Yes, I just looked into that & realized! I know of a couple more people who might want to get out & vote Trump. While I can't take them the day of, I'm sure I can arrange some rides.

Also, I really hope the tax hike amendment doesn't pass. Have you seen the wording on it?

impose higher tax rates on those with higher income levels and "lower" income tax rates on those with "middle or lower income levels," my ass.

4
ImportantPerson 4 points ago +4 / -0

"Fair" tax.

1
AstronoMink [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Omg, every time I see that ad, I want to smash the screen like a screaming liberal!!!

Did you see how deceptively worded it is on the ballot referenda? As if they will be lowering any taxes at all, let alone on the middle class.

2
ImportantPerson 2 points ago +2 / -0

Thankfully I've been seeing a few ads saying that there is nothing fair about the fair tax.

I think the most deceptive comment that has been made about the "fair" tax is that illinois politicians can already raise your taxes so this isn't that big of a deal. I was like "yeah, but if you think it's the same to raise EVERYONE'S tax rate as it is to raise individual demographics, then you are insane."

4
ChocolateEvryday 4 points ago +4 / -0

Backdoor way to tax everyone is what it is.

97 people were shot last week in #Chicago, 15 fatally.

YTD: 644 killed, 2851 wounded 2019 YTD: 431 killed, 1850 wounded

http://heyjackass.com

2
ImportantPerson 2 points ago +2 / -0

Lightfoot has to come up with 1.2 BILLION DOLLARS to cover a shortfall in their budget. If you think that those numbers you just posted are going to get better after she's cutting another 350+ city jobs, then it's going to be a rude awakening. Aside from job cuts, she's also trying to pass a 94 million dollar property tax hike. It's ridiculous.

I'm in Chicago too but did not vote.. I've only ever voted once in my life and that was in 2016. I'm from Kentucky and it just felt like voting Trump while living in Chicago / IL is just a waste of time.. I hope I'm wrong and I guess we will see if I regret not voting once the results are in. But I'm glad to see there's other red voters here as I honestly feel like the odd one out. Everyone at my job (tech) is very left and they openly talk about it in slack which makes me uncomfortable since if I said anything anti-biden or antifa I would be in fear of losing my job or someone going to HR and saying I am anti ____ and get in trouble. I hate chicago :(

11
swanzinator 11 points ago +11 / -0

Not a waste of time this year! Cast that vote, pede! Even if IL remains blue, you still help GEOTUS potentially win the nationwide popular vote, which in conjunction with an electoral college victory would deliver an absolutely crushing blow to the commies.

10
Ivory88 10 points ago +10 / -0

I know how you feel, Chiraq. I'm in the SW suburbs where it's a bit more purple, but still I can't wait to cast my vote. And my daughter will be casting her very first vote for Trump when early voting fires up tomorrow.

I am in tech, too! You are not alone.

I know exactly how you feel bc that's what what my environment was when I was at school in the heart of the city in 2016. Some woke black dude came up behind me & kicked my backpack across the floor. Him & his equally woke friend gave me the eye as they passed. All because he saw me minding my own business eating lunch & watching a video of Trump making a speech with headphones. I'm a white girl, and this was a liberal Jesuit university next to a violent neighborhood, so it was at that moment that I knew I could say nothing & had to keep a low profile.

I was totally silent about my Trump support in 2016 until a friend expressed his support in our physics department student lounge & our lefty friends basically ganged up on him. Mostly soft-core Bernie bros, some libertarians, and straight-up Dems. Ended up finding out there were 4 of us Trumspters in our group of 15 or so.

Not all of them were left-wing nuts, and quite a few were moderate, so I wouldn't be surprised if some of them have seen the light with recent events & having to enter the real world.

...

Like you, I also knew Chicago was a lost cause in 2016, but I voted anyway.

This year, though, the energy is different. The areas I frequented in the loop in 2016 do not have the BLM & Dem signs they had before. I am even seeing pro-USA sentiment. Combine this with the fact that people have had the opportunity to see what Trump can do, and that Trump has as much as 49% African American & 66% Hispanic support leading up to 2020, compared to just 16% & 27% or something like that in 2016. That is YUGE. And now, there are even successful, grassroots Pro-Trump rallies in the 'burbs! These were totally nonexistent in 2016!!

I know Chicago has some of the dirtiest politibureau in the nation, and I have no doubt there will be fraud (likely always has been). But the tides are turning, and there is a certain change in spirit that I haven't seen in a long time having been born & raised here. If there is ever a chance for it to happen, it is now.

Keep in mind, inner city Chicago is the tightest & most echoey of echochambers. Start going out into the suburbs and it is less & less. It is more normal (not as awesome as in FL, where I reside now, but much more normal). My parents are in the outer NW suburbs, and there is tons of Pro-Trump shit. When I finally graduated that echochamber & left, it felt like an absolute breath of fresh air.

The status quo creates this echochamber purposely to discourage their competition. It is entirely a control mechanism.

...

The city is unhealthy for the mind long-term. Especially this one. You need to get out of it regularly to not let it get to you. What kept me sane was commuting from my parent's home in the mid-suburbs & being able to talk to them daily.

Go hang out in the outer suburbs sometime, where the people are mellower & friendlier, or drive up to The Dells for a weekend. It will change your perspective & freshen your mind. So finds friends who think alike. I'm in Chicagoland for the next few months (except for when I fly back home to FL to vote), so DM me if you want. I'll show you places & you'll be with a pede.

...

And please, go vote & bring 2 forms of valid ID. IL allows for Election Day Registration. You still have a chance. Do not let their control mechanisms work against you to take it away. You will regret not participating in what will very likely be the most important election of lives. Do not give them a chance to support the fraud they will commit by cryimg "mUh pOPulAr VOtE!" So let's go and grab our chance to make history by the pussy!!
