Blacks owned slaves in America too. There was a prominent black slave owner in South Carolina named William Ellison who owned 63 black slaves.
And don’t forget the blacks in Africa who captured and sold off other blacks into slavery. Don’t forget that slavery is more common in Africa now than it is anywhere else in the world. Don’t forget Africa’s very long history of slavery.
Heck, one of the very first slave owners in what became the US was black.

How on earth did he purchase his freedom and his wife and children’s freedom of slave owners were these horrible evil people? Maybe it hd to do with him LEARNING A TRADE AND WORKING HARD?!?! And why did he turn around and buy slaves himself when he himself had been a slave? Maybe slavery in America wasnt the horrible evil we’ve been told it is.
There is an untold history of slavery which includes selling oneself into slavery, particularly after famine, in order to survive. Yes, there were slaves after conquests. But often the choice was slavery or death, not slavery or liberty.
Now don't anybody get the idea that I want to go back to that state. We are more civilized than that now. But to ignore the history is foolish.
Ever see that "12 Years a Slave" movie? I think that was what it was called. When it came out, around 1/3 of the people who watched it screamed "Slavery wasn't that bad!" and around 1/3 screamed "Slavery was WAY worse than that!" Honestly, the movie showed sympathetic, "good" slave owners and cruel asshole slave owners. You know, how any human you encounter can be somewhere in that range.
While buying and selling human lives may be an objectively bad thing, the slave owner who could not free his slaves, merely sell them to someone who may in fact be worse, due to the laws put in place by Left, his best course of action would be to treat them like human beings and perhaps use the Death Loophole to free them when he dies (as George Washington Himself was forced to do... before the Left changed that law so that you couldn't even free your slaves when you die. If they're 'Property' and you can do whatever you want with your 'Property' {Including kill it, or rape it, mind you, as the Left did,} why can you not FREE your property???)
It is wrong to claim that anyone who at any point in time owned a slave, or slaves, was some ravening rape hungry madman. There were people who inherited slaves when their parents died but if they attempted to free them would have been arrested for violating slave laws and those slaves would be re-sold. It is the other side of the coin of assuming that every slave was ignorant and unable to take care of themselves, so they NEEDED to be slaves for their own safety (which Democrat Convention Pamphlets claimed even after the Civil War, as they tried to re-instate slavery. Look into it.)
Slave ownership was 5 times higher per capita among Blacks than Whites. Yes like murder and theft blacks disproportionally engage(d) in the practice of slavery.

Part of my family left poland and east Germany to get way from communism. Another part of my family left Italy to escape real fascism. One part of my family came here from Scotland in the 1800's. They were share choppers until the the late 19th century. How is my family more responsible for slavery than the Africans who sold their people into slavery?

Anthony Johnson. He went to court and after an appeal that he lost, he got the court to recognize his 'right' to own one of his slaves forever. So if black people are looking at 70K reparations paid by white people for 200 years of slavery, that means they would be owed 210K total for the slavery they also committed on themselves. At 105k per 100 years of slavery, that means as a white person I am entitled to $1,365,000 - $70,000 for a total of $1,295,000.

Also, in order to figure out what the black people deserve we have to figure out how their life would have been if their ancestors weren't slaves. So we will need to compare the average black American to the average black person from their ancestors home country. If the black american is worse off than their african cousins we owe them some reparations, however if the american is better off does that mean they owe white people reparations?

I'm fine with paying reparations, assuming we take out the difference between taxes paid and social benefits received by blacks in America. If at the end, they actually owe the rest of the country some, I'll be the bigger man and forgive the debt.

First person in America to go to court and have the concept of being able to own another human being as if they were livestock, for life, was a black man. Whenever anyone seriously talks about reparations, ask them what their father's rap sheet looks like and how much of that prison time and restitution they're willing to take personal responsibility for. Then when they say they don't know their father, ask the same question about their mother.
