I wore one to Junior High in 8th grade in 1956 - no problem at all. I had read Eisenhower's Crusade in Europe the year before.

Then cast my first vote (for Goldwater !!) in 1964 after walking neighborhoods in Santa Monica registering Republicans (you could discriminate back then!!)
