Discussion Thread: States to move to

Taking into account the various factors that make life enjoyable, what are the best states to move to from a blue state? Any and every state is on the table.

Some metrics to judge by: taxes, gun-friendliness (constitutional carry?), conservative state government, social culture of the state, value of religion in the state, outdoor activities, weather, bar/going out scene

I need a nice list of places to narrow down to. My tentative list consists of SD, TN, AZ, FL as of right now. Let me know your thoughts on life in your state.

I have to give big ups to my home state of Wyoming for almost all of the points you mentioned.

  • No state taxes, reasonable sales taxes
  • Constitutional carry
  • Reliably conservative government
  • Socially conservative
  • Most of us are religious (smattering of random protestants/evangelicals, catholics, and mormons due to utah proximity)
  • Outdoor activites are most of what we have here
  • Low cost of living

The downsides:

  • Weather is really iffy especially in the south of the state. Jet stream proximity means it's very unpredictable. It has snowed on the 4th of july at least once. Tornadoes and hail during the spring/summer.
  • Social scene is dogshit.
