There still the possibility of receiving a lung through a transplant. You only need one. Many have offered. If it would save his life, and I were a match, I'd consider it.

65
FireannDireach 65 points ago +65 / -0

Depends on the kind of cancer, and how far it's spread past the original tumor - which is what stage 4 is. Transplants are rare for stage 4. I know from personal experience, we asked about it with my mom.

I'm not trying to be a downer, but if he were a candidate for it, he would have had it done already. The surgery is VERY invasive, and would weaken him - and that's what you don't want with cancer. It's also kind of pointless at stage 4, as it has spread into the overall body, and would infect the new lung. Stage 4 is bad. It has a very low survival rate with lung cancer. Once it gets into the lymph nodes and brain, it's a death sentence.

I would say there's no possibility of a lung transplant at this point in the game. They're still battling, but at some point it all becomes pallative, and not curative. Where Rush is on the journey, we don't know. I suspect he's close to where they're going to focus on his comfort and quality of life for the end stages, heading towards hospice. It sucks. Your brain tries to fight it, but...it is what it is. Cancer fucking sucks.

36
HockeyMom4Trump 36 points ago +36 / -0

But it is amazing how great he still sounds on the radio. When he started talking on the air today I thought it was going to be good news. I did not expect that there was a setback. I really do hope he can be that rare exception that beats it. Miracles do happen and I believe in the power of prayer.

We need Rush.

27

1
e_pluribus_unum9 1 point ago +1 / -0

You may be ,sadly, right pede.

8
pray4peace4 8 points ago +8 / -0

Rush has stage 4 lung cancer. Other stage 4 cancers can be cured. Stage 4 means it's spread significantly. Lung cancer causes significant problems by producing pituitary hormones, so pray Rush is spared from that. In the last 10 years cancer treatment has progressed well, & survival rates have increased dramatically.

3
Bccp 3 points ago +3 / -0

Lost my mom, too, from lung cancer. She was my best friend. She was 55 & diagnosed stage 4 after she had a weird, dry cough for couple weeks. Never smoked. She was gone in about two months. It spread to her large bones and I didn't know a human body could endure that much pain. A tumor fractured her hip bone. Good bless Rush - makes me tearful. I'm praying for him not to have pain. Yes, cancer fucking sucks.

35
LuMac 35 points ago +35 / -0

I thought stage four meant the cancer had spread to other parts fo the body. A new lung wouldn't help in that case. There's always hope of a miracle, I guess. I've been listening to Rush since his first day on air in NY. Cried this afternoon when I heard him talk about it.

17
conservativefrank 17 points ago +19 / -2

Do you understand what a miracle is? A miracle isn't always that what you want o have happen happens. A miracle fits God's plan. Maybe it's God's plan that Rush has come to the end of his days, and his courage and attitude inspire people during this time.

Throughout this situation (since January) Rush's reaction and people's responses have been miraculous.

13
SASSandCLASS 13 points ago +13 / -0

If he has it in both lungs they will not do a transplant of that sort. I checked into this for my best friends mom. I guess it has to do with a clean lung next to a cancer infected lung.

21
Nerdrem 21 points ago +21 / -0

On a semi-related note, your comment reminded me of a news story a few years back where a British soldier needed a lung transplant because of something that happened in Iraq, which was of course done by the left's favorite thing: socialized health care. So the soldier got himself some new lungs free of charge and then found out that they had transplanted cancerous lungs into him. The reason he needed the transplant was more of a quality of life thing rather than something that was going to kill him right away, but if I remember correctly the lung cancer he was given did kill him. That's the level of healthcare the left wants for everyone.

Please don't post this kind of thing. You simply cannot know. Stage 4 lung cancer has a very, very low survival rate. He may not be in imminent danger at right this moment, but his future is not bright.

He's better off right now? I'm betting you've never personally walked someone through chemo and treatment. That's just cruel to say. You're trying to create fake hope. He is very, very, very ill. My heart goes out to him and his family, because I know first hand what they're dealing with right now.

Btw, your mentality makes people die quicker. Tons of studies show that ill people who are all doom and gloom die way faster than those who remain optimistic, and that is especially true with people battling cancer..

Ron Paul

28
BasteSpuds 28 points ago +29 / -1

Fox news is guilty of this too. He'd poll 1st or 2nd place and they'd put his name on the 5th or 6th slot as if no one would notice. If Paul had Trump's fuck you money he'd have been president. His appeal was across the board.

5
SlumLordOfTheFlies 5 points ago +5 / -0

I hate to make this analogy, but it’s like comrade Bernie would get the Dem nomination if the primaries weren’t rigged by the swamp rats.

1
Ragnar_Danneskjold 1 point ago +1 / -0

Ron Paul was almost a proto-Trump. An outsider who knew what the real answers were and had no qualms about coming in, kicking the ever loving shit out of the establishment, and tearing down the ivory tower to its foundation. But he lacked the money, and more importantly, he lacked that certain braggadocio and panache that attracted normies to him long enough to actually hear his ideas. Ross Perot had tried the same thing a decade earlier, and he had the money, but again, he didn't have that attitude and commanding presence that made people want to listen. He'd come out with his charts and graphs and explain why what the government was doing and wanted to do could not work, but no one listened to him. And in those times, even through Ron Paul's period, the Left was still pretending to wear the mask of loving America just enough to keep people lazy and sleeping and thinking "ehh, it's just politics. The donkeys hate the elephants and vice versa. None of that has anything to do with me".

Trump arrived at just the right moment, with all of the right ingredients. Ross Perot's business expertise and money. Ron Paul's hatred for the establishment. He had the swagger and personal charm to make people enjoy listening to him long enough to where his ideas actually came across. And he had an audience that was finally willing to listen, as the Left had taken the mask off entirely after Hussein and a hell of a lore more normies had been woken up to the fact that there is an actual Domestic Enemy out there that wants to destroy them.

For me it was Glenn Beck just as he was kicked off of Fox. To be sure, he was a rumbling wreck at the time, but it was clear that even as he was fighting his own demons the man wanted to do good. His message was "be prepared. Be the man others depend on, rather than depend on others." I just couldn't see what was so evil about that.

10
FreeBased1 10 points ago +12 / -2

Glenn Beck is a piece of shit.

He's a never-Trumper, and it wasn't until his small business empire was on the brink of extinction that he began "supporting" POTUS Trump.

Don't ever be fooled by people who have "changed their ways."

These talking heads are like most politicians: they'll say and do anything for attention.

Glenn Beck mocking GEOTUS

6
NOTWOKE 6 points ago +6 / -0

Beck was just on the radio today spouting about DJT not really having a chance in this election. With that said, I believe he had made nice with DJT with apologies. Also, Beck was way ahead of the rest in ISIS and SOROS.

With all that, F the never trumpers. He was going to lose his media for it, as he should have. He’s lucky.

Ignatius_J_Reilly 1 point ago +1 / -0

I asked my mom, in the hospital, while she was still lucid, if she was afraid to die.

She said no. She said she was looking forward to seeing her mom and dad again.

That helped, a little, letting her go. She wasn't *her *at the end anyway, the mets in her brain took care of that. But i know that while she was still aware, she wasn't afraid.

37
RawJa777 37 points ago +37 / -0

Two parts to this question:

  1. It's hard to be excited about death in any way. Was Christ excited to die? No. And, just like everything else in the Bible, that was for a reason. Death is the great unknown and even Jesus asked God if it were possible to "Let this cup pass from me." It is the greatest test of faith and even for believers, it CAN be terrifying.

  2. For non-believers it is ABSOLUTELY terrifying which is why the left is obsessed with living forever, on the best possible utopian planet, with the fewest possible number of other people to infringe on them.

7
JackOfDiamonds 7 points ago +13 / -6

Meh. I'm atheist and I don't particularly fear death. I would hate to live forever. Imagine having every possible conversation with every person ever and there's nothing left new to experience... and you still have forever to go. Literally any eternal life that doesn't involve wiping my memory back to zero every few hundred years or so would become eternal torture.

12
GodzillaTrump 12 points ago +14 / -2

This is a temporal earthly way of thinking of forever. If you had an eternal existence where there was no getting annoyed or bored, no pain, regret, or sadness and the main part of that existence was being in the presence of an infinite God, all the sudden forever seems pretty great. We tend to compare our existence in afterlife through lens of life now (which makes sense because it’s all we know) but i contend existence there will be completely different than this experience. You may be an atheist but i beg you to look more into Jesus, his claims and the evidence that he was who he said he was. The Case For Christ is a great book written by a investigative journalist who was an atheist who set out to investigate the bibles claims about Jesus. Regardless i think you'll find it interesting.

5
MissileToad 5 points ago +5 / -0

Exactly. I would be a mistake to think this realm is just like that realm. There is no depth to the infinite curiosity and infinite discovery to be found in an infinite God. Of being able to say "okay, now this finally feels right!" in being united and planted in the perfect ground that we were made to thrive in, all in our own intended uniqueness. Basking in the same love that took on flesh and died for us, all to bring us back to peace with God instead of remaining enemies. It sure beats the alternative

Honestly, I do. I've thought about this thousands of times for over 10 years. If I knew, knew, with absolutely one million percent certainty, that when you die you simply cease to exist and there's nothing, I would end it all right now, and would have already done so years ago. I never go through with it of course because I don't know that for sure, but I would really, really like to not exist.

I've tried the Christianity thing more than once, and it's only lead to more misery and disappointment each time. A supposed "loving Father" who kicks you in the face even more if you start trying to seek him out. I'm done with all that. The only thing that's keeping me alive, and has been for a number of years, is plain old fear that it can always get worse. That's been the only constant in my life experience. It can always get worse.

He's right on many issues, so it took a while.

I forget what it was, I think talking shit about another host.

Oh, and he's not nearly as smart as he thinks he is.

OR EVEN A REAL "DOCTOR"

obtained a PhD in 1978 from the University of California, Berkeley, in nutritional ethnomedicine.

WTF IS nutritional ethnomedicine? EATING TWIGS AND BERRIES AND SHIT.

DUDES ALWAYS ON ABOUT "borders, language, culture." TELL YOU WHAT MAN! HE SURE DID CROSS SOME LINES HERE TODAY.

ALWAYS BRAGS ABOUT HOW GREAT HE IS AT RADIO. BITCHES ABOUT PODCASTS. WHATS THE PROBLEM? A DIFFERENT FORMAT WITH LESS COMMERCIALS AND RESTRICTIONS? CAN HE NOT HACK IT WITHOUT A COMMERCIAL BREAK?

1978 from the University of California, Berkeley

This is almost as much of an indictment of his "doctorate" than what it was in. I will never take anyone seriously who went to Berkeley in the 60s or 70s.

3
Freadrik 3 points ago +3 / -0

He hates Hannity for beating his ass and having a TV show. Savage had a show on MSNBC. Yup. And he got fired. He’s a seething asshole who hates Rush for having the highest rated radio show, beating his angry ass every year.

2
Ragnar_Danneskjold 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yep. It's good old fashioned jealousy. His brand of screaming rage just doesn't appeal to as many people as Rush's jovial, thought provoking, "conservatism is actually fun" attitude. People enjoy listening to Rush. The only people who enjoy listening to Savage are people who are addicted to rage, and that's just a poison that will never really satisfy.

Neil Boortz was on the air 10 years before Rush came along and he said on the air several times that without "the Godfather", as he called Rush, he would have never gotten past the local level.

Savage got the green eye and never got over it.

6
ukfan758 6 points ago +6 / -0 (edited)

I used to listen to savage during the Bush and early Obama years (first term), he used to be the third most listened to talk radio show (Rush was first by a mile, then Hannity and he was far ahead of Mark Levin and Glen Beck). He used to be a really good host and I loved how he would eviscerate liberal cuck callers.

Basically he’s been going downhill ever since Obama’s second term. He went to 9pm to Midnight in 2012, then 3-6pm in 2013 (competing with Hannity). In 2019 his show got cut to 2 hours, with only one being aired on radio and the other exclusively on podcast. And at the end of September this year, he lost his hour on radio. He has gone from third in conservative talk radio now to 7th, and now won’t even be on radio.

Savage hated and berated nearly all of his radio colleagues, and all of his colleagues hated him, especially Rush, Hannity, and Mark Levin. Doing stuff like that along with berating your syndicators or rival ones (ex: Westwood One) gets you in essence “black balled”, and that’s what happened to him. He was incredibly jealous of the successes Rush had (even though it was Rush and Paul Harvey who literally paved the way for those like Savage, Levin, and Hannity). He was also jealous of Hannity and Levin’s more recent successes with getting second and third on radio and shows on Fox. It’s honestly pretty sad.

4
bclautz 4 points ago +4 / -0

I'm almost embarrassed to say but Savage is the one who got me really interested in politics when I was in college in the early 2000's and then he turned me on to Rush. His son is the owner of Rockstar Energy drinks. Haven't heard him on the radio in a long time though

3
AK1911 3 points ago +3 / -0

Fair enough. To be fair, I didn’t hear the start of Rush’s show today. I do know that the guy has been working through the misery of fighting cancer. He’s really powered through at key times during this election year. I fear trying to find a replacement. I do know, having lost my personal hero recently, that life goes on. We’ll power through too.

3
KRosen333 3 points ago +3 / -0

I wouldn't be too concerned about it. I got into Libertarianism by listening to Glenn Beck, and I can still calmly recognize the times when Glenn Beck goes off the deep-end without worrying about how it reflects on my views.

Rush's positivity has always endured. That's what I always loved about him over any other host, for example, Mark Levin. While everything that Mark says is absolutely true, he is nothing but fire and brimstone. Rush has an incredible way of tying it all back together with an optimistic outlook, without blowing smoke up your ass. Always loved that about him.

Rush really teaches positive attitude without necessarily deliberately trying to.

I have high hopes for the next generation of conservative thinkers. We have had so many great people enter the arena in the last 4 years alone that have started to grow their own platforms. Most of them still young. The left is still clinging to the old corrupt and dying media. We will prevail.

8
Fabius 8 points ago +8 / -0

The thing about Rush is he isn't just some Right Wing blabber. He is actually really wise to the way politics work and has a great understanding of human behavior which comes off as prescient.

There is nobody like Rush on the right or the left.

7
Seanp12 7 points ago +7 / -0

Rush was a unique media icon. He created and dominated the right-wing talk radio format, and part of his status came from that fact. No one will replace him, but many right-wing commentators have filled similar roles on the internet, especially on YouTube. There's a reason that a lot of left-wing moral panic about "YouTube radicalization" mirrors the moral panic about AM radio back when Rush got big.

24
Linespaced 24 points ago +24 / -0

Years ago, back in the early 90's I think, I had a "Rush is Right" license plate frame from a Seattle radio station. I was on a Seattle ferry and sitting in my car and someone tapped on my window and started yelling at me about how evil Rush was.

This was my first encounter with a frothing at the mouth Liberal. I knew right then and there, I was on the right side.

Sad to hear this news.. he literally changed the world of politics.

I’ll just put it to you this way: After receiving the diagnosis, I never thought I would see October 1st. I never thought I would. When October 1st hit on the calendar this year, I reminded myself of that — of that thought. If we go back to the end of January, early part of February when I was first told of my diagnosis and the reaction…

The doctor said, “If you don’t do anything, we’re looking here at a couple of months. If you look at treatment, if it works, we’re looking at…” And then they wouldn’t give me a time. They still won’t. They won’t do that. But I’m just gonna tell you, there is no way back in January and February that I had anything but hope that I would still be alive on this day, October 19th, and that I would be fully productive working.

Thoughts and prayers, Rush. You are a true American hero. We'll all be praying for you to beat the odds.

So very sorry to hear this. May his spirit burn strongly so he is with us to see his dear friend Donald Trump re-elected.
