Unfortunately, my parents, in their 80s, just went the other direction: Dad is a USAFA grad (1959, first graduating class in fact) former nuclear bomber (B52 and B66) pilot, lifelong Repub, who is “disgusted” by GEOTUS.
I ask why, and he gives the same three vague, implanted catch-alls “racist, sexist, and arrogant”.
He won’t talk about it. He won’t try to convince me to vote Biden. There is nothing there.
Jacques Ellul wrote the 1963 classic “Propaganda”. Therein, he notes that modern propaganda takes no interest in changing opinions, but rather only changing BEHAVIOR. He says propaganda can make a conservative vote communist and vice versa. Changing a man’s opinions is too much work; just change his behavior at the polls.
