The UI for the Playstation is notoriously bad. No one likes it lol.
I think the first XBOX and the Playstation 2 were the last of the "Great Consoles" in my opinion. Genesis and SNES I see more as the beginning of the second golden age in videogames, with XBOX and PS2 being the culmination of everything that was achieved.
We're now going backwards in my opinion. Certain genres are dominated by games released over a decade ago while newer titles fail to push boundaries.

Still have my PS2 fatty and play occasionally. Might trash it out of spite though.
