There's no way. You guys give the dems way too much credit for having a plan and knowing what they're doing. The only thing worse than running Biden would be pulling a switch with two weeks to go. It would basically be fully admitting Biden's guilt and let's not forget, Biden IS the democrat party now. Also, since the entire impeachment was predicated on the claim that President Trump was making up the Ukraine corruption, the entire Dem House and Senate will be shown to have been in on it.
I don't think they ever planned on Biden winning. They planned on burning him so the up-and-coming socialist set could blame the "centrist" old guard for the brutal beating they're going to take, but that won't stop them from falling back to their usual last ditch - deny, deny, deny.
I think we’re seeing a close civil war within the Democrat party with the corporate Dems willing to lose in order to keep the left wing and the berniebros from gaining control. It’s obvious the corporate Dems have an influence operation going and they want to keep it even if they have to wait until the end of Trump’s second term. Anything to keep control of the party.
I think you're right, but it's not a simple two-sided war. I think that up through the Obama administration, the Dems have been running a sort of political ponzi scheme. They kept expanding their coalition of unrelated special interests by promising if they all worked together for one group's goals, they could then work on the next group's goals and on down the line.
Like all ponzi schemes it was going ok for a while as long as there were more special interest groups to scam into the circle and expend their political capital on someone else's goals. But the SECOND it became obvious they were losing, all those different groups went at each others' throats because they realized they were going to be the ones who got thrown to the curb by the great realignment to the center.
So now the Trans people and the Lesbian feminists are at each other's throats. All the different race-based groups are at each-other's throats. The young socialists hate the old blue-dogs, and the old guard just sees the young socialists as a dog that used to hunt, but has gone rabid.
The media is desperately trying to play it off as everyone being mad about Trump, but the protests and carnage is all being directed against the democrat strongholds.

I'm sure they wish it wouldn't be, but this late into the game, they have basically no choice but the run Harris if Biden has to back out. It's too late to try to build support out side of 'Orange Man Bad' and that's just not going to be enough.
