Rest of the state hates Chicago, check the county-level results and you'll see what I mean... and most of the other "solid blue" states are more or less the same scenario. This is the city-state evolution that precedes the collapse of most major civilizations of the west, and as someone that lives on the border of one of these states, businesses are hopping the border like I've never seen before.

Just moved out of Chicago.

When lockdown started, I began driving 30 minutes to Indiana, 5 days a week, to go workout at a gym. Because Illinois/Chicago decided it was in my best interest to stay home and get weak.

Soon I'll be leaving the state all together.

Said it before, I'll say it again, there should be some sort of population provision where no state may let a single city, or even a pair of cities, determine the entire electoral vote for that state. New York State has 19 million people, and 8.3 million of them live in New York City. Same kind of story with LA and San Francisco in California, and Chicago in this thread's example. Basically, a handful of cities get together every four years and decree "This is how we will rule over All of America!" and if the ENTIRE rest of the nation does not unite against them, they get their way.

I know, Electoral College, State's Rights to Distribute their Electors as they see fit, etc. etc. etc. But we already have precedent where the States do NOT get to undermine the Union Itself with their laws, and that's what is happening here, frankly.

In some ways the electoral college was there to convince the states to sign on, it would have been a nice little provision that they would have to adopt a similar voting style, say, 50 years down the road?

Personally I think the electoral votes of a state should be distributed by proportion of counties won. This would require the Democrats to drastically moderate their positions, while allowing the Right to become slightly more governmentally conservative.

Expand the electoral college to the state elections, revise gerrymandering rules to involve input from a commission of county executives and sheriffs, require a rule for rotating the state capital every 6-8 years between county seats and independent cities to decentralize state power and state lobbying firms, and repeal the 17th Amendment to decentralize news and regional lobbying firms. Local politics is where we started and local politics is where we need to return.

We had one. Its called the Constitution. To check other states from undermining the Union, a state had the right to leave. It was a voluntary union. If California and New York want to run the nation, the other states could leave and still can today. It would not surprise me if states leave the union in our lifetime

if that actually happened you could just block off the highways and have michiganders set up a blockade on lake michigan. take back the city after the food runs out.

If the "Fair Tax" passes, it's going to be a taxation hell.

Flipping this state red is the most important goal MAGA needs to achieve to cut the head off the writhing Marxist snake.

Saul Alinsky started his ideological war here, using the pedophile honeypot method to corrupt the Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago.

The global catholic conspiracy this spurred on was a springboard off the existing secret Nazi resettlement program following the conclusion of WWII, and it would lead to the human and child trafficking epidemic we see today.

The Democrats in Chicago took over the role of de facto crime family following the power vacuum left behind when La Cosa Nostra was reigned in.

Good luck, the Democrats have a firm hold on this state. Also there are no real Republicans to run against them.
