I was in a group of ppl recently and a local elementary teacher was part of the group. She was talking about how she requested to teach remote the rest of the year and her teacher colleagues are pissed at her bc most of them want to go back (ya no shit). That same afternoon she was out at a public gathering and we were about to take a picture when she told the person taking the picture to make sure to not post on social media because her request for teach remote wouldn’t look good. It took every ounce in my body not to just rip into her on the spot. This person didn’t give a shit about her students that need her and just wanted to work remote. The kicker, one of her friends replied with “who cares if you get fired, at least you won’t catch COVID.” The stupidity was beyond belief.
It's time we abolish unions. Seriously. ALL OF THEM. They only exist now for the corruption of the leadership and to extort the people who sign their members' paychecks. They have no usefulness
I say take them up and even go farther, shut the schools down permanently and fire all the teachers.
Private non union schools will grow to fill the void, the rest can be home schooled or take up work trades and apprenticeships.
Western civilization was greatly enhanced with this type of setup, The smarter kids who aspire to use their smarts will benefit, and the rest can learn a trade and do actual work and get paid for it.
Shut down the schools, sell the real estate (maybe to private schools), fire all of the teachers (and ESPECIALLY the administrators!), and stop collecting school taxes.
