I agree, keep young kids off the pills.

I know people on here don't like to hear about Europe, but this thing about giving crazy pills to children is a 100% American thing.

Interested in how Italians invented 2a

It's a reference to Cesare Beccaria, an Italian thinker in the Enlightenment period.

He was the first to make arguments against gun control, and his work was quoted by the Founding Fathers when they discussed the right of the people to bear arms.

My intention was not to "appropriate" the 2A, which was in fact invented by the Founding Fathers, but to raise awareness on the common culture and history between America and Europe.

Oh I know this. How did we EVER get through having good times in childhood without having to take pills because having too much fun?!

Ok, but adderall has its uses and I think that the stuff about "numbing active imaginations" is wrong. I think it should be limited to later teenage years, and it helps a lot of adults.

Agreed. They shouldn’t be given to young children. If you’re a fully developed adult that’s another story.

I started taking it in my 50's and it changed my life. I've been at my current job for 8 years which is a record for me. More focused and making more money than I ever have.

Get the kids outside. Run the energy out of them. Mom, Dad, join them. Everybody benefits.

I'm one of those crazies who would rather use holistic methods for everything, if possible.

However, these medications have their uses.

The problem, however, is that I don't trust the prescribers. I think they over-prescribe.

Furthermore, it should only be temporary while you are working on more permanent solutions.

I agree generally with "holistic" approaches in the sense of using the oldest available medication with predictable side effects.

I do not want to experiment with the newly created ADHD medications.

I only use my prescription during work and when I need to focus. This is extremely important in my line of work. When I am out of work, I simply take a break. When I was in college I wouldn't take it during summer or winter breaks.

The most important aspect for me is that I don't like the medication. I don't want to have to take it. However, I recognize the importance in taking it for my role in society. One day, I hope to shift my line of work and not need to take it. Until that happens, I need to take it. If my medication were cut, it would damage my quality of life significantly.
