I'm one of those crazies who would rather use holistic methods for everything, if possible.

However, these medications have their uses.

The problem, however, is that I don't trust the prescribers. I think they over-prescribe.

Furthermore, it should only be temporary while you are working on more permanent solutions.

I agree generally with "holistic" approaches in the sense of using the oldest available medication with predictable side effects.

I do not want to experiment with the newly created ADHD medications.

I only use my prescription during work and when I need to focus. This is extremely important in my line of work. When I am out of work, I simply take a break. When I was in college I wouldn't take it during summer or winter breaks.

The most important aspect for me is that I don't like the medication. I don't want to have to take it. However, I recognize the importance in taking it for my role in society. One day, I hope to shift my line of work and not need to take it. Until that happens, I need to take it. If my medication were cut, it would damage my quality of life significantly.
