My wife suggested we watch J Edgar. While some facts were tinkered with, the premise that the FBI gained power and funding by collecting information on incoming presidents and their families may still be the standard business practice.

If this holds true, and the historical account is accurate, then wray and company were simply biding (pun) their time until Biden and his cabal got into office and then show up with the photos of Hunter doing something very bad. The FBI becomes more powerful even if Biden doesn't serve a full term.

Having the drive in the public sphere eliminates their opportunity but also exposes them for their historical practice of gathering intel and using it against the new POTUS. Thoughts?
