I am a fed up Canadian wanting to move to the US. I love Canada but I want more freedom, we are over regulated and over taxed here and it’s getting worse and worse. I am fed up with our current immigration system that’s overwhelmed and screwed up our housing market, average house price is 600,000 in Canada now WTF. I know you guys have to be careful on your immigration numbers too but what is your thoughts on taking in Canadians? It’s nearly IMPOSSIBLE for us to move there and become permanent residents. Thanks for reading eh.

Find a Red state and help keep it red.

Or a swing state that leans red. I don't know if you're crazy enough to live in Florida, but if you are, consider there.

I’d love to move to Florida. There’s gotta be some good areas??? Anywhere I’ve vacationed there has been great.

Thanks for the advice! Ya the heat might be a big adjustment. Maybe North Carolina and I can help keep that state RED! Lol

Don't live in Florida, so I can't really give good advice to someone moving there, but I'd personally stay away from Broward County. Anyone who lives (or lived) in Florida care to chime in?

Well, you may find it hard to adapt to Alaskan laws such as: No Moose allowed on helicopters. Other states might make more sense. All I will say is if you ever get the chance to move here, and take advantage of my country just to talk shit about it like most other Canadian-Americans at the moment, since you announced it here, I will personally come to Canada and melt your igloo....thats right, the opposite of Arson

I worked with a pear-shaped, punk-dressing, middle aged Canuck. She complained incessantly about EVERYTHING. Everyone is racist, conservatives are evil, la dee da. I’m fine with based Canadian refugees, though. We can send the ungrateful ones right back.

Well I’m surrounded by those types. How do you think I feel lol

Yep Canadians who move here try to bring their socialist filth with them, case and point, look at the political map with border towns.

Lmao. I value freedoms and conservative ideas so no need to melt my igloo.

Have several Canadians in my area and they are fine, it's hard to do it legally but worth it.

Very hard to do and I would say worth it as well.

I'll trade Canada Jim Carrey for you. Sound good?

I couldn't imagine moving to the US, becoming wildly rich and incredibly famous off of American dollars and then shitting on the country that provided this lifestyle to you.

Talk about biting the hand that feeds.

He’s really lost his damn mind. Gotta love it, chooses America and then tries to change their way of life. Loser!

You need to talk to my Darling Wife. She's a native Toronton who took US citizenship a couple of decades ago. Now she's talking about how socialist the US is becoming and wants to run back "home".

I keep trying to tell her that it can be worse...

user2020t [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

I’ll talk to her lol. It’s so bloody expensive here. She is mistaken. It’s not the Canada she remembers.

nufosmatic 2 points ago +2 / -0

Her parents are in Oxford County, and we've been travelling there over the last 15 years (and Ottawa before that). What's more, my Darling Wife has been dealing with the Province and Federal government with regard to her parents affairs. I don't understand why that isn't enough.

If she values freedom, she ought to stay put in the states. I’m afraid of the direction of Canada. We’re being sold out and Canadians are too busy hugging trees rather than dealing with our problems.

It might feel impossible, but it's certainly possible for us Canada pedes to become US perm residents! I'm at the tail end of my perm residence process right now.

user2020t [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

How long did it take you? I really want to give it a shot. Any advice would be great.

Fellow Canadian, I am with you! I have family there already.

It's been a serious consideration.

It’s reassuring to know I’m not the only one having the exact same thoughts.

I’ll be a contributor to the system, not a taker and provide jobs.
