I support legalizing because it will help to choke out the cartels. But at the same time I don't want the filthy government to get control over it because you know they will increase taxes on it over time like they did with tobacco.

While they still make a goodly amount of cash from weed, they have diversified. Meth, heroin, human trafficking, money laundering, and a shitload of other illegal enterprises are there to fill the void. More meth is made in Mexico now than was EVER made in trailer parks by toothless rednecks.
Here on the border a pound of weed is cheap. Economics of scale make it far more profitable for the same mules to hump a backpack full of meth than a backpack full of weed. An SUV stuffed with weed might be worth 100K. That same SUV stuffed with meth or fentanyl is worth millions.
