I would legalize medically, decriminalize general and let the states decide on general use.

How about no. The federal government has no business in it, declassify entirely. How do you let the States decide on it if it is still illegal but "decriminalized"?

Make it legal everywhere for medical use. Then make it so it is NOT illegal federally so the states can decide if they want recreational use. Its giving the power back to the states.

There are certain things the states do not have the power to do. Search you without probable cause is one of those things. And there are certain reasons they do not have the power to do those things. A lot of thought went into that.

If you think about drugs, they are just compounds people choose to consume. Why should we give power to regulate that to the states? Why do states not have the power to ban firearms?

Individual liberty is above states rights. Everything isn't "states rights". Some things are just nobody's business but mine.
