There is power in anominity.
It is why Reddit was created in the first place.....to attempt to give regular people more power over their lives.
Although, Spez seems to have forgotten that.
I guess money is the deciding factor for him.
I sure hope he's not a spiritual man......choosing money over truth and honor is never good karma.
And he showed us how he would act if given great power. Such is the weakness of some men.
With that being said, I would like to address the "power" in this new THE DONALD supporter forum. First, let me congratulate Shadowman3001 and anyone else who had a hand in this new site. It is sorely needed (for peace of mind) and well done. And, like most facets of the computer era, in is part of the continuing evolution of the information age.
And that is something which can not be over looked because, like AOL newsgroups evolved into Reddit.....and Reddit evolved into the_donald....this new forum, with a unwritten future ahead of it, has a chance to evolve into something more than that which is responsible for its birth.
Like Reddit first set out to be, it can be a place which fights 'REAL truth to Power'.
And the way I propose this can happen involves two steps....
First.....We, the users of this forum, give up some rights.
Second....the Creators of this forum give up some rights.
After all, even in America, some rights are given up to make the system work. Case in point would be the 1st Amendment Right and threatening to cause someone bodily harm.
So what rights would we agree to give up here, and what would we gain? Here is what I propose...
We can create a forum which allows users to upvote to determine forum policy. However, these users given the power to cast votes need to be vetted, right? Kind of a forum voter ID? How can we be sure bad actors aren't casting votes for their own selfish (none MAGA) interests?
And how do we vet them when being anonymous is the whole point of the thing?
Well, I believe if Shadowman3001 and others allow what I propose, that it is possible to do.
If we adopt the rule that only users with a certain amount of karma are allowed to cast votes we will provide a vehicle which accomplishes that vetting. Karma points here are accumulated by either intelligent comment or MAGA sentiment (never mutually exclusive) so it follows to reason that those accumulating enough karma to vote will either be loyal to MAGA or reasonably intelligent (again, never mutually exclusive).
Now what issues regarding this forum would these users vote on? After all, I'm not talking about casting upvote arrows for comments and content. That is something anyone can do because of how the system is designed.
Instead, I'm referring to voting on things like sidebar rules.
General rules of forum etiquette.
Members of the mod team.
And generally anything proposed which helps further the evolution of this forum.
I watched the_donald grow from a subreddit of around 500 users, that was ridiculed at the time by the big powerhouse subreddits, into one almost 1,000,000 strong (some claim it is much more than that) and now feared by those same subreddits. What happened was very special.
But it was also full of systemic problems. Problems which manifested because power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
And for this forum, that absolute power resides in Shadowman3001 and those who helped him. Are they intelligent MAGA loving individuals?
Well, we know they are intelligent because to create this forum is not something someone with a low intelligence can do. But how do we know they are MAGA loving?
If we can be reasonbly sure Shadowman3001 is not the reincarnate of the original creatorof the_donald, then he became head mod later. And we can never be sure he wasn't compromised. Who knows, maybe the point is to split up the 1,000,000 strong and diminish their effectiveness? How can we be sure?
Therefore, one of the first orders of business when enough karma is gathered to take a meaningful vote, is to vote on a mod team.
Shadowman3001 should be appointed as head mod by vote.....and I would whole heartedly support him.....but the point is to create a system which mitigates as much as possible the negative which power tends to create, while at the same time empowering users and the MAGA agenda.
Gentlemen and gentlewomen, if you understand the dynamics of what I am proposing and can foresee the benefits it will afford us, I encourage you to contribute your comments and upvotes here.
This is just the start of the next phase of the_donald's evolution. What happens depends on us. It depends on our commitment. It depends on our courage. And it depends on our vision.
?? MAGA ??
"Don't look a gift horse in the mouth" suddenly came to mind...
Here's the thing.....if Shawdowman3001 agreed to let approved users vote for the mod team, he would certainly be seen as a virtuous man who put the movement before himself.
But if he has no interest in it, does it mean he's not that selfless?
Not necessarily, but is it moving forward by simply creating the same thing, when something greater is possible?
