Is the only possible reason this might not be allowed because you're worried about reddit punishing r/the_donald for activities on here?

I think there is a difference though between this and that. If the information regarding the unmasked person is compiled and brought to law enforcement, it is up to them to make the call from there. The goal isn't to get vigilante justice, its to provide the law with the information it needs to be enforced.
