They are jealous of success. Especially when it happens so quickly. They could never replicate this.

The fact is, anyone with no social life can learn to code for free in their mom's basement. They don't seem to realize this and so when others are just as capable they can only be resentful since it's how they spent their youth. I mean, it's not exactly a trivial skill but anyone can learn it. It's like fixing a car. I'm not saying it doesn't take any skill but once someone shows you how then you can start doing it too. The big difference is that we don't worship car mechanics these days and pay them $250k a year retend like they are the second coming. Yeah, you know how to tell a machine what to do. It's fun but I'm just not super impressed because an idiot like me has done it too.

Eh, being a software engineer (specifically a web developer) who's good friends with several mechanics I think you wildly underestimate the work something like this takes and the skill it takes. It's a lot lot lot more than just writing code. Yes, anyone can be a coder from self teaching online. But not everyone can be a software engineer. You have to understand front-end/back-end communication, server side communication, scaling, complex algorithms, and general principles of software engineering and web development like how to structure a database.

Also, I'd love to know what normal developer is making 250k a year. I actually make a fair bit less than my mechanic buddy who works at a Honda Factory. I get what you're saying, and no web development doesn't make someone some kind of god or special. But I also think you wildly underestimate how much skill and knowledge goes into making something like this. Again I'm a web developer working with the DoD and I don't think I could do something like this in a year.
