If there is a Senate trial, does Cocaine Mitch have the authority to put the same restrictions (i.e. witnesses, questions, closed hearings) on the Dems that Shifty did on the Republicans in the House?

The big thing about a Senate trial is it's actually a legally operated trial. Right now Schiff gets to play Lord High God of the Rules and do and allow whatever he wants. It goes to trial, Trump gets his own lawyers, get to declassify and introduce information as he sees fit, and will get to call and cross examine witnesses.
Basically, they don't want it because he will be legally allowed to fight back. In their minds I am sure they thought this Inquiry was going to be an absolute beatdown of the Republicans in the public eye. Reality hasn't been as kind, and an actual trial would be even worse for them.
Thank you. This is what I thought. I'm also curious if the Dems would be restricted from calling bullshit witnesses with hearsay evidence, and allowing the witnesses to express their feelings and opinions.
Yeah, Impeachment Proceedings in the House are essentially the attempt to get an Indictment, similar to a Grand Jury. As has been said by lawyers for over a century, a Prosecutor can get a Grand Jury to indict a ham sandwich.
I want a Senate trial. It would be beyond epic to see Cruz question these bozos.
