I can't believe that's even an option to override ballots. It's absolutely insane. It was designed for cheating.

The machines should just count ballots normally, and if it can't read certain ballots, put them in a separate pile to be counted by hand. And if people still can't tell who was chosen on the ballot then throw it out because the voter is obviously retarded.
