they are kind of a mixed bag. Crossfit started getting popular when spec ops guys started doing these Workout of the Day (WOD) in memory of one of the fallen. They literally started doing this stuff in their garages. For a long time it was just the military guys doing them then it spread. As soon as the first Crossfit gym (they call it a box) opened it started to be infiltrated with whoever was willing to pay. It sucks because I think there is a special meaning for military folks that do the WOD and it gets watered down by folks that are monetizing it. But that's capitalism!

TLDR: Original Crossfitters are based... some of the new folks that are joining CF gyms may not be.
