They never went anywhere... The supreme court has ruled many times that Firing squads are in line with the 8th ammendment and they do not cause cruel and unusual punishment.
These rules changes were not done to "bring back firing squads" lmao not at all. They are being implemented so that they can do away with all the bullshit regulations and get the justice system back up to speed bc since Obama it's been almost impossible to do "Federal Execution" bc of all the regulatory bullshit and bc of all the "11th hour appeals" Death row had turned into "appeal row" and has caused a fucking HUGE back log of federal inmates on death row. Once these regulatory changes are implemented, a federal death row inmate will be killed by whichever method is used in the particular state he is housed in. If he's housed in a state that doesn't allow capital punishment. Then the court is required to pick a method that is allowed in a different state and use that method. The only reason "Firing squads" are mentioned is bc there's still a few states that allow that method as an option. Believe it or not... In most states that allow capital punishment, the inmate is allowed to pick which method he wants and the state has to grant him that method. States that allow capital punishment usually want to have as many different killing methods as possible available. This way they're able to find/have a work around for any "11th hour" appeal that is sure to come. If a court rules one method as unconstitutional at the last hour... The state is able to move on to a different method. The more capital punishment methods a state has means the less likelihood a death row inmate will be successful with his appeals. He sure as hell won't be able to sit on death row for 60 years winning appeal after appeal. I live in Alabama. We have Lethal Injection, and The world famous electric chair called "Yellow Mama." Lethal injections have become such a hot issue that companies started to quit selling the drug compounds used in most lethal injections. Making it very difficult for the state to acquire the right medicines for the job. Because of this, about 14 different states now keep their lethal injection compounds completely a secret. Just next door in Mississippi they have lethal injection, electric chair, Nitrous Oxide, and even firing squads. The only reason... only reason they still have firing squards(besides that the supreme court has ruled a few different times that it is in line with the 8th ammendment so therefore is not deemed as "cruel, excessive, or unusual punishment") The only reason, is in case the other methods get blocked by last min appeals. So literally all that has happened here is that GEOTUS had just continued to slash regulations and cut the bullshit red tape and continued to make government smaller. In the end... This doesn't have a damn thing to do with fucking "firing squads" ffs.
