In case anyone is feeling doomer about Rudy not confiscating the machines yet, let me put this in perspective:

President Trump operates using a multiprong strategy. He doesn't leave his enemies one clear vector of attack. He has Rudy defending him as a civilian, he works along side Powell who works along side Lin representing the US People in court. He no doubt is working along side Barr (despite appearances contrary) because he told us back in October to trust Barr. Now the way the government classification system works (not to mention our legal system to avoid the Hatch Act and the like), it would be very difficult if not impossible to give everyone involved in each of these prongs the full picture. So Team A could have access to the EVM, but Team B doesn't know that even though their mutual boss, Trump, does.

At the end of the day Rudy is a civilian working on a civilian case. He is not privy to classified information and even if he was; that information would be rated Above Top Secret. That means you have to pretend that information doesn't exist. So even if Trump has the EVMs (he does) from some classified ATS raid, and even if he cleared Rudy to know this (lets say its legal for him to do so as I am not a lawyer), Rudy must act like that information doesn't exist and thus go about grabbing the EVMs an alternate way.

Remember: Trump and Rudy are working side by side and Trump hated Obama for showing his cards to the enemy. Why would Trump clear Rudy to do the same?
