Amateur-hour here. How does knowing how to code help moderate a forum?

Spez: I was insinuating that I was the amateur. Not that OP's question was dumb. I dont know much about building a web page beyond what is included in webpage building apps. Genuinely curious what knowing some code allows you to do that, say WordPress, does not. Especially for a more minimalist site like TDW.
