You bet your ass that white families in Alabama tell their kids not to sound like Jed Clampett so that one day they might end up in a board room. Hell, I grew up in Chicago and was told things like don't use "ain't" or "cause" instead of "because." The explicit reason was that people who talk like idiots do poorly in life.
