OP is spying on me!!!!!
Back in 1975, I built stack-able bunk beds from red oak for my 2 young boys. Nobody wanted them as they grew up, so I have been using them since I became suddenly single. Un-stacked, or un-bunked, they make a beautiful set of twin beds.
I had them bunked in my new smaller apartment, then unbunked them just a month ago as I got rid of excess furniture. This is the exact email I sent to my kids last month:

Hi all,
I understand that people have been saying that in order to visit me, you have to use a bunk bed to sleep in.
I want to report that the rumor is now TOTALLY DEBUNKED!!!
dad
PS -- now with no dresser set and night stands, I have room for twin beds
