The government has always represented the people, not necessarily the will of the people of course.

To clarify this, the government does not represent the character of the people but they have been historically important in almost every other affair involving people such as developing culture and customs.

And yes, I do know that the their PM was convicted a few years back. Quite a shocker for the amount of corruption involved.

Edit: I was trying to draw analogies to our current situation. Biden, Pelosi, Clinton, et al do not represent us Americans at all as we are not racist, communists or murderers. And that good people who do try to stand up are murdered (Pat Tillman, Seth Rich, Harry Deal, etc)

I understand your point that the people are separate from the government's actions but at the same time, it makes you wonder how people often get corrupted once they hold a seat of power (in any culture).
