tbh with you. my view is that it doesnt matter what your sins are, just by living in the world we are mortally affected by sin especially now.

even if you dont watch porn, i fucking guarantee you have some sin you cant beat. and honestly all of them except blasphemy of the holy spirit are equal and forgivable. the 10 commandments are obviously important, but still actually forgivable even because of Jesus.

at this point unless you went to live in the jungles in secret, you couldnt possibly avoid being infected by and not beating at least one sin.

so I do agree with you people should try to be better, god doesnt expect you to beat sin in this lifetime entirely or ever to live without it. that train has come and gone with the garden of eden.

even if you did "live without sinning anymore" you'd still in fact inherit sin genetically. so there is no way out of that now through legalism which was the failing of my ancestors the jews who got excessively legalistic and ended up setting up the temple as a dynasty/economic empire rather than living up to the "spirit" of the law.

i think being able to discern is of some importance though. because if you cannot discern, you cannot legitimately feel bad over your sins, not believing they are bad you cannot be forgiven for a fake apology.

i disagree with catholicism in that works only matter if you do them because they dont matter. if you do works because you have to -- like my ancestors the jews and their good deeds before barmitzvah -- or the catholics because you have to do works -- its not genuine. its like a fraternity brother collecting charity by day to have a date rape party by night. it is the appearance of good to get away with evil and self-empowerment. the reward itself and expectance thereof, or plotting for, is what what makes it evil.

if i help someone for the fuck of it and nobody ever sees or believes it, that actually matters more to god because its an exemplification of individual character and virtue.

that is why also prayer in private is in some ways more important than in public. because in public people see you pray. in private you do so out of true volition.

so I dont think salvation requires you fully recover from sinful ways, because that is sometimes impossible. I do think you must make a true genuine attempt and realize your failings and that you cannot achieve perfection though.

if salvation required full recovery of sin, we'd be back to legalistically determining who was without sin which is nobody ever except jesus and god and the angels that didnt rebel.

tbh the best rewards for good works are the ones that come unexpectedly, genuinely at a later time when you are in need yourself. although most have no reward -- or even have a punishment!

think of it like this -- why did sacrifice lose its value? Because it became a ponzi scheme to tax the peasants to an unfair degree in the house of god. peasants were not willfully sacrificing, but paying the tax because they had to. that made it tainted. and thats why jesus really kicked over those tables. it was genuine when people, by will, simply made the sacrifice out of choice without the taxation aspect.

even if everyone genuinely did mean it at the time, and believe in it, that well was poisoned just like legalism or trying to become without sin now.

Basically bribing someone to do a good work, or holding a gun to their head, invalidates the good work. or doing the work for selfish gains.
