I believe Trump knew full well the Dems (and RINOs) would cheat, and let them (in 2018 - to observe - and 2020 - to act), using it to his advantage to create the biggest sting operation of all time getting the swamp to reveal itself in full in his moment of "weakness" so he could finally make good on his promise and drain them all. It would otherwise have been an impossible task in 4 or 8 years.
Given the scope of the power of his enemies, I don't think it is a guarantee that he wins. But he absolutely has the upper hand right now, and I do expect him too.
