I'm pretty sure some Dems will be voting for Hillary again, which means DJT gets to crush her twice. Two boppers!
-
There should be lots of faithless Electors also on the Dem side for VP, bc Harris isn't eligible (not even a US Citizen, yet alone the natural born POTUS req.)
-
Realistically, there's powerful human nature and irl realities that most Electors will vote how they've made known they will before their State Legislatures appointed them. This is 100% why shitting on the Republican Party during Elector selection is extremely counterproductive to winning.
-
Technically, (even with a bs SCOTUS case brought by lefties this summer); Electors get to vote for whomever they want, so long as the person is qualified for POTUS. This is no different than how any official votes. We are a Republic, a Representative Republic; we don't legally have things like public democracy voting things like zoning laws, tax laws, drug laws, aka "legislation". We can ammend constitutions, but doing something like Prohibition is NOT an ammendment of the powers or structure of government.
So just as the public doesn't get to force their representatives to vote a certain way, nor can the State Legislators force the Electors or Senators to vote a certain way. If this was a solid-linkage, there wouldn't need to exist, the States Legislators could do it themselves. This removes some important things including political stability, like a sailboat without enough keel/balast, or a wagon with springs.
