Hi from Czechia, Europe - FYI and for comparison because there are no political fights over coronavirus treatment here so less bullshit and fog.
According to our small local equivalent of your CDC, the situation is neither black nor white but rather grey:
- the HCQ+AZT+zinc cocktail works, but not always and not reliably enough
- the best evaluated potential treatment is remdesivir which works in about 68% cases
- the HCQ combo is along with other antivirals not far behind remdesivir but no figures were published yet - based on context, my guess is they are somewhere around 60% or a bit above it
- the convalescent plasma might be even better than drugs but there is not enough of it
- at least here, remdesivir is very hard to obtain and extremely pricey while HCQ is abundant and cheap
...overall, none of the existing potential cures seem to be a definitive solution but they do work, more often than not.
