Maybe it's not so much a LARP as it is just well-intentioned, but highly gullible people who believe speculations that confirm their own conspiracy bias. I'm not trashing all "conspiracies", but I think you know what I mean.

Some people are paranoid AND someone is definitely after them... some people are paranoid and love to pretend that someone is after them.

Think of flat-earthers as a reference. They believe something to be true, but believing doesn't make a thing true, evidence does.
