Ya give up on the biggest retailers. I have better luck at the smaller-scale regional department stores and small businesses. The big names are the most dialled into the cheap Chinese crap because saving a penny per unit can net them millions. The smaller shops might not have "Made in the USA" but you do have a better chance at finding something not commie-produced.
Another problem is even if you do find something made in the USA, it can be something of that fake feel-good sustainable eco-friendly BS made by a hippie, so you're bankrolling the domestic threat.
I have no problem buying something second hand no matter where it was produced. The money is staying local, that's all that matters.
