Reason: Meant MURS, not FRS...

Usually, I'd just say "avoid crowds," but we need a show of force. So some thoughts...

Either leave you personal cell phone or block the signals. Don't use it during the 6th if you can avoid it.

Use a cash-paid burner as an emergency phone and a camera. I like the concept of the handheld cam, but you'll stick out in the crowd.

For local comms during the event, look at using a personal radio with an earworm so you can hear in one ear the whole time. Pedes should probably be meeting in advance with groups parked near one another so they can stay together near the end and avoid PantiFA problems. The group is likely to be separated during the chaos, so localized comms will be important.

If you're not a HAM, consider using a MURS radio instead of the cheaper, more plentiful GMRS radios that you get at Wally-World. There will be fewer people on the same frequencies.

Keep comms short and sweet as there will be a lot of traffic, and it will be possible for everyone out there to intercept it. Meet up in advance, and/or come up with some comms strategies here on TDW in advance.

Carry some food, water, and basic supplies. Chaos may reign. Do not count on local hotels and/or restaurants.
