I mean, the best equation they've come up with says half the universe can't be measured or interacted with in any way (dark matter/energy) and they can't figure out how one of the four fundamental forces works (gravity). And they got no idea why expansion is speeding up instead of slowing down.

It seems like too much money is going toward research that only exists to keep the grants coming in instead of actually making progress.
