Right now, dealing with the recent ban on our coal.
What's next is most likely going to be a ban or tarrif on our iron ore. I'll be honest, that will be a pretty big gut punch to our economy compared to all the other items they've gone after recently like the barley and coal.
There's two opposing mindsets going around as to how we deal with China. Some people want pragmatism, they're hoping that if we just 'take a step back' and avoid doing anything that might inflame the tensions, that China might eventually be willing to mend some fences and get our trade relationship back on track.
Fucking lol...
There's also the side that wants to just disconnect from China and walk away from them completely. As much as I'd love to see that happen I also will admit that it would be bloody difficult to do, almost impossible. All our mining fat cats would need to be on board with the idea (not happening, they love getting rich off their deals with the CCP), all the other resources and infrastructure owned by China would have to be taken away from them (I don't see our government ever being able to strongarm the CCP members into selling ownership back).
For now we'll just be putting pressure on each other and chest-pounding the rhetoric back and forth.
