The word gender has been taken from grammar and abused, first by prudish people who wanted to avoid saying the word "sex" because it also refers to sexual acts, and then by the pseudo-academic crazies who invented the whole "transgender" idea.

In the English language, there are three genders (masculine, feminine, neuter) and two sexes ("male" and "female"). I really think it would help promote rational discourse on related topics, if those of us on the side of sanity would stand firm on that point.
