Exactly, it's not necessarily about me, but my story is far from unique. I lost my job and still have to pay for my rent and everything else while I am being told I won't hear back about my unemployment benefits for months. I have also lost my health insurance coverage because even the COBRA payments are not possible for me to make right now. I'm going to be evicted and lose everything--- and I have a Master's degree. I've never been a depressed or suicidal person, but it's incredibly stressful when you know there is nothing you can do about your eventual eviction and homelessness. I can't even imagine if I had a family to take care of. 26 million of us are experiencing this, and that number will only continue to grow.
It really bugs me when people say I'm being insensitive to the people who are most likely to die from COVID (the median age of which is 80). We have had just over 50,000 people pass away from COVID, but you have over 26 million working age young adults who are now unemployed and a few weeks away from financial disaster and they can't even afford therapy.
