Marx realized that Communism was not an obtainable goal on a short time scale so proposed Socialism as a stepping stone. Socialism still means the government owns the means of production and all these countries that claim to be Communist, never really got there and stopped at the Socialist level.

Socialism is fucked up enough and fails every single time, Communism is such a fucked up idea, that is actually has never been tired. You know the left use that meme, it is actually accurate, it's never been tried because it is so ridiculous. For example, in an actual real communist country there would be no currency.

The Nazis and Socialism is super complex and I don't have the time or energy to go into it, there so much out there already. The whole history of the lead up to WW2 is so beyond corrupted in popular culture because we won, however, there is so much nuance and detail required to really grasp the Nazi ideology. It was not socialist as we understand it today but nor was it fascist or far-right.

Where we find ourselves today is simply that Nazism is synonymous with evil so in current times the left and the right what to play political hot potato with who "owns" the Nazis.
