I think your points are definitely valid. I remember there was a hubbub a while ago on how streaming services did not offer an opt-out of watching content automatically. The argument (I think) was that you basically become a drooling idiot just consuming content with no interruption. A television series for example could go on till it the actual series ended. On longer YouTube videos ever so often, it will stop and ask," Are You Still Watching?" and you have to manually press a button before it continues. This is not how it used to be. So yes, regular MSM is definitely a better conduit for endless programming/brainwashing.
EDIT: And to answer your question I would say the 80 year old is in better condition overall then the 70 year old.
