As far as Q goes. Yes this fits into everything they've said. No doubt about it.

I just can't understand why [they] would walk into such an obvious trap. They follow Q just as much as we do.

Only thing I can think of, is they are more afraid of us, an angry mob, than a trap, that could potentially be a bluff.

Lastly. I belive in Q, but I also think its important to look at all angles. To look at the possibility of Q misleading us into complacency with what's happening.
