And the corporations just do free patent sharing agreements with each other. So it is nothing but a corporate racket to protect each other against upstarts.

The idea of patents for upstarts is good but it's completely broken and upstarts can't afford to build the products they've invented due to all their patent infringements. Maybe initially they fly under the radar, but if they become too big, the corporations can just leaf through their patent portfolios and crush the mosquito.
