A big wall keeps you quite distant from the "impact" point, which was insanely tiny to start with (per historic photos), and has since been filled in. It's got a copycat wall of the Vietnam Veterans Wall (engraved names of victims) and a few lame exhibits. I came too late to go to building, just went to the outdoor part.
It takes FOREVER to drive off the nearby rural road and go to the impact "site." On the way you pass a carrillon of bells one per each victim. It's all tired and cliched and uninspiring.
The debris field iirc is eight miles west around a lake, in part, and also in the woods nearby, which you can get NOWHERE near given the oddly designed perimeter wall (high base and then slanted top) that discourages climbing, scaling, etc.
.... so this sucker was surely blown up by an Air Force or similar fighter. At best, the "let's roll" myth involved a fight that was terminated by an air-to-air missile, and maybe an engine or something came into this field and made a tiny crater and amount of smoke.
