I know exactly what an internet Bill of Rights hold them accountable for all content. I don't want them accountable for all content. I want them to stop censoring
like what do you think would happen if you did that? do you think they would suddenly stop censoring you? If you held them accountable for everything that was posted they would suddenly do LESS censorship?
no
they were legally liable for every single thing posted on their websites the censorship would be rampe up by a hundred.
this kind of thing is just pushed by people who want to see Facebook go out of business. They don't want a solution
they're not looking to stop Facebook from censoring. they just want to get rid of Facebook altogether..
the same for Twitter. these people are generally people who are angry that Facebook and Twitter sell your personal data and the solution to that is jumping on any opportunity they see that might put them out of business. The people pushing this idea to hold them legally liable for stuff they didn't post are people whose goal is not to stop the censorship but to bankrupt Facebook..
no. They should not be legally liable for things they didn't post. They should simply be told that they cannot censor people
yes a good way to do that is by labeling them as a utility. we did that with the telecoms. They came before Facebook and they were the major way that people communicated and we decided as a nation that if they control 90% of communication that maybe they shouldn't be able to do ANYTHING they want with that
founding fathers thought it was so important that they literally nationalized the only company responsible for communication. They have the government run the post office. They didn't let a private company do it. They didn't even regulate a private company that did it. They said "this is too important to let a private company deal with it. we're gonna have the government do it""
