It's almost like a faction of politicians have commandeered a portion of the Army and are defending themselves from all other "non loyal" branches of the military (Air Force & Space Force & Navy?)

Or they sense the government has weakened to the point of dysfunction and need to protect the Capitol from enemies at all costs, but that's kind of silly because the capitol is hardly USA's most important asset. There are plenty of bunkers and bases and contingency plans to keep the government operating.

So yeah it's pretty weird!
