I think your analogy is really good. I only disagree to a point. I think that although many swamp creatures have been exposed, they have long taken this into consideration. And I know it is a stretch in your analogy, but - I think they have had a rain machine and a fence company waiting for this moment; complete with a turnstyle of people that are already caught in line to be devoured.
That is not as doomer as it seems, we can now see through Rinos (even independepents like Rand Paul), Judges and media (even 'free' media end up parroting talking points). It does expose what the average person is up against.
Knowing that... we can always build towns and have community away from the 'choice' swamp land. I think short of full on forced restructuring, walking away and civil disobedience might be slower but the only way to win.
