Even if it's true that the guy was trespassing--hell, even if it was a straight-up burglary and home invasion--you don't pile into your pickup truck and chase after him brandishing firearms to confront him. Once they're off your property, let alone down the street, they become the police's problem. WTF were they going to do after the cops arrived?
