It reminds me of the escalating copyright battles. There's a lot or moral debate about copyright but there's also the point at which intellectual property overreaches to the point of tyranny where they think they own your brain. That they have the right to think.

I remember cases like this where for example Microsoft had a lobby that wanted to criminalise open source. Almost like a restaurant calling the police on a soup kitchen for the homeless.

The media believe the same. That what they had and now everyone has is stealing from them because they have lost something. They believe that disseminating ideas is their intellectual property and their exclusive right.

What we're experiencing now is a civil rights movement and they're on the wrong side of it.

It's sort of funny that we want to fight the concept of "property" where it really is a problem. Communists are on the same side as the worst capitalists. They want to own everything.

There's this strange mindset that creeps in when people have some success which is that they then believe they have a right to it. A kind of malevolent protectionism creeps in to secure their place.
