It is just the first time we have become aware of it and able to get together and figure out we are all seeing the same thing.

Seems like the vast majority of elected republicans failed to act, and they could see what we see. I kind of doubt that lack of action is due to a corresponding lack of backing by the public. I don't think you fully grasp what we saw last November, or are seeing today.
